Barry McGee, who went from spray painting walls in San Francisco to displaying art in the nation’s finest galleries, has his first ever museum show
at Berkeley’s University Art Museum ---but it closes December 9. Nobody who enjoys art should miss McGee’s of a kind show, which includes many installations unique to the exhibition. Barry McGee may well be the Picasso of our time, as his art reflects both our social and political landscape and a world of his own making. This may be the only time when McGee is given almost an entire museum to create his world, and it is an experience few viewers will ever forget. Who else but McGee would spray paint the doors to their own museum exhibit with the words “Sell out!” Kids under 19 are free through November, and this is one art exhibition that young people will equally enjoy.
