To the Editor:

We are in the middle of the worst depression since the 1930s. Real unemployment has always been double the official stats and a recent article documented 86 million unemployed in the USA. Not good. More business taxes is the last thing we need and you can forget that 'only the rich will pay' nonsense.

If all the money of all the rich were confiscated do you really think we'd have enough funds to run the government for more than a year? Who do you think creates jobs? The lumpen in the Tenderloin or here in east Oakland? This 'progressive' proposed business tax is the most irresponsible idea since Alex Cockburn's recent floater of a $12.00 minimum wage that was enforced. It would double the Black youth unemployment figureas well as seniors and workers with marginal skills. A is A and we have got to recognize objective reality as Raul Castro recently noted in that we can't consume more than we have produced.

Brava for Monica Kenney!! I am there! Wells Fargo did, or tried to do the same thing to me and my family. If a company can be \"evil\" Wells is that. Never in my life will I do business with them again. I wish Monica well and hope she reaches out to others, as I have, to find some satisfaction in helping people stand up to evil.

You're right; these are the same people who gave us this disaster we now find ourselves. More austerity that is all we need. Look at Jerry Brown. What a guy! he is giving us more republican nonsense than we can handle and the democrats are no better than the republicans. Why should we accept more of the same medicine we have taken for the past 12 years.

What we need to do is tax those corportations, including Apple, Microsoft, the oil industry to bail us out of our doldrum. Why should these companies sit with billions of idle funds? Get it back to us where it belongs. Keep these turkeys feet to the fire.
