Join us on Friday, May 30th at
5:30 PM at the Cadillac Hotel -- where Chris Hess will perform "Piano for the People: a Classical Piano Concert for Non-Classical Listeners." In his day job, Chris is the Director of Resident Services at
RCD -- a non-profit in the East Bay that provides supportive housing for the homeless. But he is also an avid piano player, having learned at a young age from his father's piano shop in Kansas.
Chris will connect music written from 1840-1960 with the present day Tenderloin to excite and educate a general audience. Chris will play Chopin, Rachmaninoff and other romantic composers, interspersed with personal stories. For example, he will syncopate different rhythms in the right and left hands, show you how, and explain why it builds community.
The Cadillac Hotel is located at 380 Eddy Street (@ Leavenworth.) The concert is free, and everyone is welcome to attend.
