Supervisor candidates David Campos (District 9) and David Chiu (District 3) each held simultaneous boisterous rallies yesterday in front of City Hall. Rather than pay the filing fee, candidates for Supervisor can submit petitions of 1,000 registered voters in their District – and each David was there with supporters to turn them in. Both Davids met their goal – with Campos collecting 1,600 signatures (more than his District 9 rivals) and Chiu collecting over 1,900 (more than any other candidate in the City.) While it may have seemed to the casual observer that the two Davids were holding competing rallies, both candidates have endorsed each other’s campaign. While Chiu said he also supports District 9 candidates Mark Sanchez and Eric Quezada, he added that Campos is his #1 choice in the race. Both Davids serve on the Democratic Central Committee, both are endorsed by the outgoing Supervisor in their District, both went to Harvard Law School, and both have the same political consulting firm running their campaign.
Rally for David Campos.
