To the Editor:

Thank You, Danny Goldberg, for your intricate explanation of Woody Guthrie's impact on our society and for your equally important exposure of the Ayn Rand 'thinking.' You succinctly tapped in to the vision that Woody showed through his songs and words, 'this land belongs to you and me.' We, the people, need to clamp on to this sentiment, and use it as a banner, spreading the word everywhere, reminding each other constantly. You are correct, the conservative will fill the vacuum if progressives don't have a message. Their Ayn Rand inspired corporate take-over is an evil reality Karl Rove, the Koch Brothers and the so-called conservatives have foisted upon us. And the worst part is that they have convinced many that not thinking their way is somehow unAmerican. People, take back your country. Don't forget the 99%. Woody's words can make it real.

To the Editor:

Thank you, Dana Woldow, for taking the time to do the math of bake sales. I have often lamented the "internal" bake sale requests (selling to students and staff). And now I have the math to show that giving $15 out right is a fair and healthier equivalent. If I feel the need to contribute to a bake sale, I will be sure it is a big ticket "external" bake sale that is drawing from a larger community and/or building community.

To the Editor:

I generally agree with the sentiment of the article, but the idea of including a $7.50 wage for charity work is just silly. If I'm giving the cost of my work to the school instead of baking the goods, I'm not going to give the money I wouldn't have earned doing the task also. It makes no sense. The baking is going to be in my spare time. I'm not taking time off my job to bake for the school sale -- it's ridiculous.
