The 49ers played hosts to the Third Annual HOMETOWN HEROES CELEBRATION in tribute to our emergency service personnel who work daily to protect and serve our communities; the Police, Sheriff’s and Fire Departments and Highway Patrol.

Halftime honored the brave and heroic acts of Capt. CHESLEY “SULLY” SULLENBERGER, the pilot of US Airways flight 1549, who safely landed an airplane on the Hudson River on January 15, 2009. REMARKABLE FEAT!

There were military servicemen and women seen around the concessions. Felt proud to observe a few AIR FORCE women in their uniforms - recalled memories when I served in the late 50s.

President Obama stepped into more than he perceived of the Presidency! He wanted the job, left with a mess from the previous administration, NOW IT’S HIS BED AND HE’S GOT TO SLEEP IN IT! December 10, President Obama will travel to Oslo, Norway to receive the coveted NOBLE PEACE PRIZE at a time he offers NO SOLUTION to PEACE!!!

LEAVE TIGER ALONE!!! What a mess the world’s popular No. 1 golfer TIGER WOODS finds himself in over the ONE CAR accident outside his Florida home last Friday morning (during the 2 a.m. hour)! A personal problem, but the media and Highway Patrol are trying to turn into a SCANDAL! Last I heard the police were talking about search warrants! Yes, he’s an ICON in the game and industry of Golf - which means BIG CORPORATE MONEY and a clean image!

Tiger is a big story that won’t go away! The spotlight shines on him asking why did he leave his home in the wee hours of the morning, hit a fire hydrant when backing out of his driveway ... knocked down a neighbor’s tree, damaged his car ... his wife had to use a golf club to break the windows to rescue him; hospitalized, released, NOW holed up in his home refusing to speak to the Florida Highway Patrol and media, AND withdrew from his own charitable golf tournament (CHEVRON Golf Challenge in Thousand Oaks, CA. aired on the golf channel) to be held tomorrow! According to his agent due to injuries from the car crash.

OBVIOUSLY Tiger is having personal problems (domestic) that will spread because the National Enquirer reported he was seeing another woman; NOW MISS “B” - Attorney GLORIA ALLREAD is involved and the woman in question FLEW IN TUESDAY FROM EUROPE and in L.A.! Attorney Allread will SUCK the story to the hilt!

A DAY OF THANKSGIVING SHOULD BE EVERYDAY! Thanksgiving Day VELMA’S Nightclub opened its doors to serve dinner to ALL, FREE, starting at 1 p.m. VELMA LANDERS realized this year has been hard on many families, individuals, because of the current economic situation impacting families, Velma and her co-partner CHESTER BILLINGER, and HELEN LEE - the club’s RIGHT hand lady reached out to the community that included churches, senior centers to let people know one could have “TURKEY YOUR WAY” - baked, smoked, fried, B-B-Q’d, served until 6 p.m.

The response was OVERWHELMING! . Others like myself came to pitch in, serve! RIGHTEOUS COOKS that included Velma’s cook JENNIFER GAINES, JULIA WILLIAMS rattled pots - smells of down home country Greens (SCREEEAMIN’); macaroni ‘n’ cheese, DRESSIN’, desserts galore, so much more!

Several organizations and businesses in the Bayview addressed this need by providing dinner for anyone and all who accepted the hospitality. There was even a SANTA CLAUSE (forgot to tell him what I wanted for Christmas!!!) for the children, and a table for them to do fun things. Those who joined giving back to the community were: The Rose House; Bayview Hunters Point LIONS Club; The Monte Carlo - BOSSMAN GARY LYNCH did fried turkey; the Bayview Entertainment Society; Take Wings Foundation; MICHAEL HENRY, Director, RACING 4 LIFE there with his wife and son; Powell’s Soul Food; The Inner City Adolescent Network; Nanny’s - SURETHA JACKSON runs a sobering Place called Nanny’s; BOBBIE WEBB Blues and R&B Music Foundation.

Among those on the scene: GRADY of The Whispers - with a take-out box; Archbishop GREGORY RICHARDSON, host “The Good News Show” aired Sunday mornings, Cable 29; LOIS SNELL, owner DMC nightclub in Oakland; photographers MR. JESSE and controversial SF community activist ACE WASHINGTON of cable 29, shooting for his Wednesday night segment to be aired next Wednesday night a 9 p.m.

What’s going on between Ace and REV. AMOS BROWN??? A hot issue that deals with a restraining order filed by the Good Rev. against ACE-IN-YOUR-FACE to stay away from him at community meetings! SF COURT APPEARANCE this morning at 9 a.m., 400 Van Ness!!! Ace read the order on his TV show!!!

MOVING ON IN TURKEY FLAVOR - FLOYD GLENN, owner DOGLEG GOLF shop, as usual invited many of his golfing associates, Board Members ( like myself), to join he and his wife ANITA GLENN, TURKEY CHEF WILLIE COOPER to attend their Annual PRE-THANKSGIVING Feast, the afternoon of November 21; AND day before Thanksgiving CATFISH AND GRITS (SCREEEAMN’) at “GUSSIE’S” Chicken ‘n’ Waffles Restaurant ( former site of Powell’s Place on Eddy near Fillmore) for an afternoon snack.
