The July 2 election shows that Mexico’s ruling elite still does not know how to secretly steal the Presidency. After fingerprints were left all over the Republican Party’s theft of America’s Presidential election in 2000, Bush and company figured out a way to secure 300,000 questionable votes in Ohio in 2004 without being caught. Instead of learning from this experience, the Mexican elite announced yesterday that 3.4 million (!!!) uncounted votes had suddenly appeared---one day after rejecting progressive candidate’s Lopez Obrador charge that three million votes had been “lost.” In addition, it appears that votes in some conservative parts of the country might have been counted twice. Even the Mexican Supreme Court may not be able to resolve this mess. While Mexican conservatives did follow Ohio’s example by requiring voters to wait hours in line in Obrador’s Mexico City base, its failure to count 8% of the total votes until Obrador raised a fuss is no way to steal an election.
