To the Editor:
Carmen Chu, a resident of San Francisco for about 2 years and appointed by Gavin Newsom as his supervisor/pawn, is said by BeyondChron to be the "establishment choice." How dreadful for us in the Sunset to have this person as the "establishment choice" which means another season of no representation whatsoever for us in the Sunset.
Chu was appointed and has shown by her votes to be Newsom's most staunch supporter (so said The Chronicle even with its known agendas). Her donations come from the owners of apartments, the owners of hospitals and the like. None of her donations suggest she has one interest whatsoever in the issues of the Sunset, but show she is just the Newsom pawn she was picked to be, or the establishment choice!
Chu is not from San Francisco nor does she know San Francisco let alone the Sunset, its issues, its history, its schools. If my Asian neighbors must have a Chinese Supervisor, why not someone from the Sunset with a history thereof? I personally know many such qualified candidates, but of course they were not picked by Newsom et al. to back his initiatives and proposals and would need the Chinese newspapers and community backing to tell the Sunset residents how to vote.
Why must we in the Sunset once again have absolutely no representation? All you need to do is hear her speak as she asks what are the issues because she knows nothing of the Sunset's issues but she takes a salary for representing the Sunset while she runs behind Newsom.
Come on Sunset residents. We need real representation in City Hall.

To the Editor:
We have to keep Jerry Brown from being elected Governor of CA and it's not too early to start. There is the fact that he started a
military charter school in Oakland. I am confused as to how a public charter high school can be a military school - I don't know that much about charter schools, but doesn't the Geneva Convention state that youngsters can't be indoctrinated into the military? And isn't this what a charter military school would be doing? How can public funds be used for this? We are fighting so hard against JROTC here in SF, what is wrong with our brothers and sisters in Oakland? This school should be closed. But instead, Brown is using it as campaign fodder on
his website.
Also, a state appeals court in San Diego upheld the State's Medical Marijuana law after it was challenged by 2 counties, San Diego and San Bernardino, because marijuana is illegal under federal law. "The Federal law does not compel the states to impose criminal penalties for marijuana possession" said the 3-0 ruling which upheld a former Superior Court ruling.
The article says that a second appeals court in Sacramento (first was in L.A.)has decided that the 2003 state law that limits the amount of marijuana a patient could possess for medical use and remain exempt from prosecution is unconstitutional. If your read down to the last paragraph, you will see that when the appeals court in LA reached that decision in May, AG Brown's office has appealed this ruling to the state Supreme Court.
Brown must be stopped. He is definitely NOT "Governor Moonbeam" as he was dubbed during his days of dating Linda Ronstadt.
