Dear Editor,
Tommi Avicolli Mecca's article "Blacks Not Cursed Anymore, But Gays Still Are" is rife with misinformation and discriminatory remarks. Getting the name of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints wrong and spelling Jesus with a lower-case "j" are not only disrespectful but are marks of poor journalism. I believe there could be efforts made by people on both sides of the issue to be more respectful and tolerant of each other. I realize that might sound hypocritical, but consider this statement: "I understand your position, but I must respectfully disagree with you." Now, wouldn't that be a nice thing to hear, no matter what side one takes?
Respectfully yours,
