With the right literally
equating defeat of Proposition 8 with Armageddon, it’s a bare-knuckled fight here in California. Supporters have raised $4.5 million in the last two days, the “No on 8” website was hacked Wednesday night, a Prop 8 spokesman recently
compared opponents with Hitler, and Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council has called it “more important than the presidential race.” Back in September, I spent a week of my vacation time in Wisconsin to help Barack Obama—because I didn’t want to wake up November 5th and feel like I could have done more. Now supporters of marriage equality must fight to defeat Prop 8—because you don’t want to wake up November 5th and feel you could have stopped bigotry in America’s bluest state. Polls are extremely tight, and the “No on 8” campaign
must raise $3 million by midnight to stay competitive. The San Francisco campaign office
needs volunteers for the final push. If the right-wing is treating this as a #1 priority, so must we.
