To the Editor:
David Chiu’s response to Park Merced is nothing new. His playbook for addressing controversial legislation favoring special interests is defined by tacking on amendments, supposedly responding to resident opposition. He did it when nightclub legislation in 2009 sought to strip residents of any say in how, where, and when clubs operated near residences, including up to 6:00 a.m. He did it when Masons sought to turn their regional temple, Masonic Auditorium, into a nightclub, with occupancy of up to 4,000 club-goers, in a residential district!
When push comes to shove, David Chiu veils his betrayal of the tax-paying residents who made this City, as (so-called) “compromise.” Mayor David Chiu? Let’s “compromise” and vote against him.
