LET’S ROCK TONIGHT! The San Francisco GIANTS kickoff WORLD SERIES play vs the Detroit Tigers at AT&T Park this evening - AWESOME! Right fielder HUNTER PENCE is always swinging his bat, rocking in swaggering style at the plate! He played a vital role in the locker room, voicing spiritual uplifting words to his team mates to prevent elimination in the 6th game at home with the St. Louis Cardinals - urged the team to keep hope alive; he hit in 3 runs Monday night!
The Giants are GAMERS! The heroics of Marco SCUTARO - miraculously bounded back from a hit by Cardinals’ Matt Holliday in a brutal slide to second base; won MVP Trophy for his playing performance since drafted to the Giants from the Colorado Rockies ; centerfielder Angel PAGAN, Pablo SANDOVAL, and catcher Buster POSEY - the comeback kid, out last season due to injury at home plate that could’ve ended his career but bounced back after surgery to join the team in 2012!. A real slugger that bolstered the Giants journey to the World Series!
What a postseason - backs up against the wall, faced elimination six times; the resilient young Giants, 2010 World Series Champions, fought the Cincinnati Reds, beat them on their turf; then on to challenge the 2011 World Series champions St. Louis Cardinals - on the verge of elimination at Busch Stadium - DO OR DIE! Last Friday night, starting left-handed pitcher BARRY ZITO threw 115 pitches, 7 2/3 innings, SHUTOUT the Cardinals 8-0!
Zito, pictured above at a press conference wearing a fedora hat, was brilliant ! Gutsy! He gave the team another day, brought them back home - the rest is baseball history! DESTINY was to be!
Sunday, starting pitcher Ryan Volgelsong, powerful in his pitching delivery; closer Sergio Romo prevented any runs. Red Birds shocked at the great pitching and bullpen! The young Giants, survived 6 elimination, - embraced the attitude, “WE CAN DO THIS!”
So, once again - DO OR DIE - Monday night game threatened to be delayed by rain -- which had been falling before most got up for work! The masterful MATT CAIN (have always been in his corner and Zito), in his usual calm, controlled demeanor, struggled a little, but never let the Cardinals see him sweat, regrouped to throw 102 pitches, shut them out, before leaving the mound in 6th inning.
Normally a rain delay would be called, but with only 3 outs needed to end the game in quick fashion, the man to do it was SERGIO ROMO, stepped on the mound in the 9th inning, pouring rain, strucked out the last batter, went into his usual emotional tirade, face upward toward the sky, flaying his arms, rain drenched! Maintained Cain’s shut out win - 9-0!
HALLOWEEN will catch us! All week, at least until November 1, if needed, San Francisco will be all abuzz with Giants fever - money will be made in the various bars and other businesses in the area. Remember a time when the World Series played the first week of October, now drag through the month bumping schedules with the 49ers and Oakland Raiders (WOW, they WON Sunday).
OK GIANTS - WE CAN DO THIS - LET’S ROCK TONIGHT!
HEY, IT’S NICE TO BE NICE AND TO ALL OF YOU OUT THERE...LOOK FOR ME...I’LL BE THERE...
