Oakland Mayor Jean Quan’s House …

by on September 30, 2011

To the Editor:

The Mayor’s house was absolutely not in compliance with code. The Chronicle staff based their story on seeing multiple photographs that a citizen brought to City Council.

Does this look like it’s in compliance? http://www.orpn.org/Quan_blight1a.htm How about this? http://www.orpn.org/Quan_blight1a.htm

These are both images of the Mayor’s deck. It is crumbling. There is a hole in it that someone could fall through. The hole is under a 2×8 support that has shattered from rot. If a 2×8 has shattered in one place from decay, odds are that there’s serious decay somewhere else. This is dangerous and totally a violation of code.
