(Coming Friday: Read our exclusive review of the new Broadway play, The Color Purple, from Beyond Chron correspondent E.”Doc” Smith. Smith will be joining Oprah Winfrey, Quincy Jones and other stars at Thursday’s opening night show and will provide all the inside info to our readers)

Yes gentle readers, my best friend, songwriter and producer Stephen Bray, surprised me for my birthday this Friday, with tickets to his new musical, “The Color Purple”. Bray, who was both writer and producer of some of Madonna’s greatest hits, (“Into The Groove”, “Who’s That Girl?”, “Express Yourself”), has joined forces with Allie Willis, (who wrote the theme to T.V.’s “Friends”), and Brenda Russell, (“Earth, Wind and Fire”), and the great Quincy Jones to compose the music for The Color Purple. The play originally opened in Atlanta, and has been in previews all November, all to rave reviews! Stay tuned…
